First, cut the entire floor out of the car and rip out the dashboard and everything else inside. Drop the engine and front subframe and you will have extremely easy access to the oil filter, as seen here

Yes, it's an awkward job on a BA. I had to jack up the whole front and lie underneath it, which I didn't like doing.
On the BJ (similar engine) with the filter in the same place it's just about possible to reach down from the top, there's more space around it. Not sure why.

Get a V6, the filter is right at the front and unobstructed, it's like low-hanging fruit! :badgrin:

Sadly, the rest of the engine is an absolute nightmare :roll:
