Hi there, Thought I had better join up here for some advice. I'm currently looking to buy an earlier BJ 323f to replace my aging dog of an almera gti. Just looking for some advice of what to look out for, if they're prone to rust and where, that kind of thing. Hope to get to know you all soon!

Main place the BJ's are prone to rust are the rear arches but the engines are fairly bulletproof.

Rust in the rear arches, and sticky calipers seem to be the only problems they suffer. Everything else is very good - my 2003 sport is on 112000 miles, and still going strong

As far as the sport model goes, earlier cars (known as pre face lift) are 1.8, while the later ones are 2.0. The later cars also have climate control (instead of just air con) and DSC/TCS

In my opinion, the BJ Sport is a cracking car, quiet on the motorways, and lots of fun on the twisty bits when you want it

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. How are they for rust around turrets/sills etc?

Have spotted a cheap 1.8 in my favorite colour (white) on autotrader. Is high milage OK on these or is it best avoided?

If they have been well looked after then mileage doesn't really bother me
We have had low mileage cars that have had big problems so in my opinion its just pot luck really .
