Hi all,
In the UK, our government has mandated (I beleive) that standard petrol must now be E10 (10% ethanol) by september 2021, but I've seen quite a few peopel concerned about running older vehicles on this higher ethanol concentration petrol and wanted to get your opinions and experience on this.
So when going to the petrol station to fill up for my recent road trip in Poppy, I found that my local Tesco have already switched from E5 petrol to E10. They still had E5 available in Super Unleaded form, however, so I filled up with that and the same on the return leg to be sure the car would be happy.
After contacting Mazda, they confirmed the car (1.6 SOHC 16v EFI B6 engine) should have no issues with E5 petrol but should not be run on E10, the reason being the fuel system is not designed to cope with this higher ethanol content.
Has anyone been running theirs on E10 or higher and what has been the effect (if any) on the car, engine and the fuel system?
