 Post subject: amp protection light on

so as the subject says my amp protection light is on and making the sub pop continuously removed my amp and tested my friends with my wiring etc and it works.... any got an idea what gone wrong?

fuse? bad earth? bad connections?

I know the BG is a B**** to earth. i think i ended up earthing via a bolt in the back seat, or something like that....

check the earth, happened to me once and turned out to be a bad earth.

Protect mode on amplifiers is normally activated when there is a short circuit or insufficient power.

  • Check the Power & Remote On are not shorting anywhere.
  • Check the RCA cables & speaker cables are not shorted anywhere too.
  • Check the fuses on the side of the amp and that they haven't blown.
  • Check the settings haven't been turned up to high on the amp
  • Possibly check that your battery & alternator are providing enough power

already tested my friends amp in MY car connections are fine

did you check your amp in your friend's car?

could be the amp internal circuit failed...if you have tried another amp in your car, with your wiring and drive unit, it points to your amp ;)

yer figured as much anyone got any hints for fault finding in the amp ? cant really justify buying another one atm proper skint i reckon maybe whilst its been rattling around in my boot something has come loose inside :S

op amp ic failed maybe? or possibly one of the connections to the speaker outputs

Can get an amp on forums fairly cheaply. I paid £20 for my other Fusion amp so they're not all expensive.
