Hey again

I recently posted the topic "dash clock" about my speedo's clock not working anymore.
Today i wanted to replace it but i couldnt pull out the speedo. I know this is because the cable is too short for that. (WHY??) but what do you do about it? About midway on the cable there is some sort of connector which i tried to grab a hold on and pull in each direction but nothing happened. Do you really just need to pull all you can or are you supposed to twist or turn it or anything like that?? Please help me out here.

P.S. I know there is a similar subject but that didn't really answer my question...

Undo the bracket in the engine bay, that will give you enough slack in the cable to pull the speedo out a bit more. There is a bit at the end of the cable that you slide back I think, or push the sides in and then slide it back, can't really remember, but once you have the speedo out far enough it will make sense :)

Do you mean the bracket on the transmission? Cause i thought of it but was afraid to mess something seriously up by removing that....

Open the bonnet, look at the panel behind the engine, you will see the speedo cable coming through it and across the engine...it is secured by a bracket there, undo it and there should be enough slack in the cable to allow you to pull the speedo further out :)

Hey guys this is not my car but the donor car I'm taking the clock from. Even though my car looks the same. I managed to pull the connector apart (middle picture) and then pull out the Speedo. The procedure looks simple from there. Just a question though. When you take these needles off am i correct to assume that it matters how and in which angel you put them back on? Or would it be wise to take note on how much gas is in the car before you take the needle off so you can put it back on in the right place. Hope you understand my question...
