Hi. I am new to this website, and new to being a mazda owner (and I love it). Inherited my GF’s granddads 1990, 323 1.8i gt…. While the car is in mint condition the front speakers need replacing. Do I need to remove the whole door card or will the section round the speaker pop off?

Yes you need to remove the whole door card unfortunately
There is not much room for large speakers in the door, keep that in mind when buying new units.

thanks for that Anders. i started doing it yesterday (although not mechanically minded my basic wiring is good) but i couldnt get the door release off - can you remember if this is easy, and just lifts off? dont want to break anything.

already got some 5.25' (13cm) ones yesterday as i was told, but after reading some topics on this website, i may need to change them for 6' or 6.5'... luckily i still have the receipt!

I just found this guide http://www.club323f.com/?page_id=790

The inside door handles are difficult to get off. What you have to do is take of the little gray plastic retainer on the metal lever connected to the door lock. The gray plastic thingy have to be twisted gently to come off.

top man. will have another crack later.

You are welcome
