(I search everytime before posting!) But putting a super charger instead of a turbo on my BP engine, would need G series box though but the FBA BP engine. Can it be done? Has it been done? Ive allready discussed this with some people and some of the replies were "you'd need a mini cooper charger" and that is had been done somewhere. But also that super charging would be easier then tubbying and would give better powerband then with a turbo and laaag. Also that it would be more vunerable to the more violent down shifts... There is allot of knowledge on modding these cars engine wise on this forum so I though Id ask you lot! ty!

i think the only way you would fit a supercharger under the bonnet would be if you placed it above the gearbox and extemded the input shaft so that it could be run off the a/c pulley/belt |

First of all, the Mini SC is WAY too big to go under the bonnet of an F, I know, I tried, it wouldn't go in a 1.5, so there is no WAY it'll go on a 1.8 And its never been done before either.
The best solutions from my research are either, retro fitting an MR2 MK1 supercharger where the aircon pully would normally go, or fitting a Rotrex SC. The first option might cost about £1000, the second you're looking at the sharp end of £3500!!! To be honest, if you want easy quick power and i say that advisidley, then transplant a 323 (BG) GTX/GTR turbo engine! |

Hi im digging this up again, because Ive now found somebody with an Eaton45 and a 323F with the BP Im getting VERY interested, and looking at the SC the tubes wouldnt be in the way. And also if its got to go onto the AC and its way down in the bay... Need to mod the front perhaps though. Orr and Im learning allot not sure though, but the power steering could be switched with where the AC is supposed to go, then youve got the space above the heatshield. Trying to get the guy to check the placement of the SC... There are some people that give it a good chance. And it will perhaps be expensive. But not as expensive, FOR ME to get an GTX engine and do all the work. I understand there is still work involved, but also allot less piping to be done. Im setting up this years financial planning and getting a bit excited because the plan is coming together nicely and Ill have some spare cash in the summer. Still not certain what Im doing but 1500 euros is there 1 way or the other, and perhaps an extra 1000 also. And this is for the engine alone! |

i would like to come over and bolt it on
i think (if there is room under the hood) that it is more easy to make then bolt on a turbo charger.. with the SC you only need to make the intake pipes and you need to fit the SC somewhere.. and also remember that you need to run on a stand alone ecu (megesquirt or something..) |

Problem is that Im going to need a location near to my house because obviously I cannot be driving the car... 2nd fan isnt needed without the airco right? Im certain there must be enough space, looking at the thing its not that big, and the pipes come out at the right end. well its worth a try... ecu is going to be a problem I think... |

if you got a stock ecu lay out i'll bet it can be done
then you can replace the stock ecu for some stand alone one. i think this is what you need..? wideband lamda other MAP sensor (BP turbo..??) bigger injectors stand alone ecu (or maybe a free programmable bp turob ecu??) and ofcourse the SC with it pipes and intercooler
then get rid of the A/C, remove the 2nd fan etc. and i think there will be room for it

its a shame you cant develop a speciasl that could run it off a modified fly wheel, you would be able to make room for that easy if you could mount it in the gearbox area. beefed up ring gear, take off the started stick it in there, just make sure you got a passenger to help bump start it everywhere!!!!!!!! |
