ok the title of this part of the forum gave me an idea.(forced induction).
if i was to have a container of air in the car and have it set up with a regulator that is pre set to a certain psi, then have it brought into a valve that i can control in the car.then from the valve into the inlet manifold on the engine.this should work just like a turbo boost????? yes/no. i was just thinking about trying this but im not too sure what kind of psi that i should allow into the manifold.anybody got any ideas on this.?????? :bom: :bom:

i suppose thats a sort of nos type injection system but with compressed air rather than N2O
not sure about the performance of it though! :?

ye thats what i was thinking of. surely it should have the same effect as a turbo in the car no?you would just need to time the release at the right revs??

Don't go near an electric supercharger or anything thats got a small fan lol, not worth it lol, but I was thinking of trying to run compressed air into the engine with extra fueling, but then I thought I might as well just get nitrous lol

ye this is the thing i have the regulator and i have all the fittings and tanks that i will need i even have a spare inlet manifold to use. do you guys reckon that this will work in a similar fashion to a nos kit(obviously not as well).

not going to work
as the amount of "air volume" wouldnt be a enough you'd need like a 50lt tank , to get close to 10secs worth

and you cant pressurise the air into the engine, as all the air pressure would go OUT the afm instead of into the engine, becuase the TB would be open

could just hook up a leaf blower instead ..that works as it has the volume, but not realy much pressure behind it

Its putting it in under pressure though, cause of the amount of air being forced into the engine, you can also see them open a bottle or nitrous next to the leafblower intake lol sneaky lol

as DaveOr said, the pressure wouldnt be anywhere near enough, the only benefit i guess would be the air would be extremely cold as it comes out of the canister, may be near 5 degrees. That would give you maybe 2-3 bhp untill it runs out

you would need a remapable ECU with a 2 stage boost controller, you would kill ur engine after a few weeks, its a crazy idea, just buy a turbo....

you can get a system called cry02 or something from demon tweaks that is verry similar to the type of thing you are talking about but it just cools the air more than force inductioning it ..you would need a hell of alot a preasher in the set up to do what you want and you would need to booste the fuel to ...but if you can do it do it it will rock .....

Whatabout a pressurised cylinder of oxygen? Would that give you a bit of a boost from better combustion?

Probably ,but pure O2 could be a little too much, may need to remap the ecu, dont forget that air is only around 20% oxygen, it would be similar to fitting NOZ

And also the extra weight for all these tanks and hoses lol it might do a tiny bit, but will be slower cause its heavier! lol if you want to go faster, take out the aircon lol

funny that you should talk about the air con M1tch, as there is a 323f BA that had the air con plumbed into the inlet system.. and it worked!! no idea on BHP ++ tho..

i thought about this, u could use a piggyback system with a fifth injector to get the mixture right BUT surely the extra pressure would just force the wrong way out the front of the intake system, you would need some tyhpe of non return valve....

that wont even work because you wont get the air flow from the vacuum of the engine with pressure in the manifold, you would hav to take it to be properly tuned, although there is a website to work out the air fuel flow if you was going to give it a go. you could just do a proper job and put a turbo or a supercharger on it and get that tuned up??

how about instad of your tank of oxygen u just use Hydogen or helium? which are both far more xsplosiveo and yes we are now talking of Nos not Forced Induction i am aware -.-

i am likeing the idea of running a small motor inside my engine bay on a saturday or sunday for increased performace such as a leaf blower it like a bolt on/off turbo, i doubt it would last long or hold up to well tho, also your car would actually sould like a hair dryer i surpose.

in a nut shell this will not work. forcing more air in would cause the car to run very lean and without a science degree in maths you could not work out the volume of air needed per 1000 rpm vs fuel. all i could see with this is your piston been put under extreme load resulting in a bent rod. thats if the car would run at all. skim the head and up your compression ratio would give a better result than messing around with this, or do a turbo conversion

may be wrong just my opinion
