Has anyone ever supercharged a 1.8 BA? Being the same engine as in the NA MX-5, I don't imagine the process being too different. I've seen quite a few supercharged MX-5s, both 1.6s and 1.8s, both producing great results. The reason why I ask is because 1, I had my 2.3 DISI thread absolutely shot down (my own fault, not enough research), 2, I love how responsive the 1.8 is and how fast it revs for what it is, and 3, because supercharging a car is typically easier and cheaper than turbocharging.

Hi Borys,
I think this will be easier than the MPS thing.
But remember the MX5 is rear wheel drive, so the engine installation is different.

But to answer your question, no, I've never done it.

I think it could be feasible with something like an Eaton M45 off an R53 Mini Cooper S. That had a 1.6 engine so I'm certain that it should be fine for the BP. It would keep the car responsive but it would be quite a bit faster, plus as far as I know it's never been done on a BA.

It has been done, both 1.5 and 1.8 with eaton's
can't tell you the numbers, but they were pretty rad..
The problem with this engines is low rev pressure,
you can easily damage the engine if not done right.

I'm sorry, I wasn't intending a "shoot-down", more like "Baaaad idea, please don't ruin your car!" ;)
