I have been looking for a half decent socket set to use when working on the BJ for the last week or so.
I've got a budget of around £100 ish.
Ideally with 3/8 drive ratchet, short and long reach sockets,extensions and bars with or without torx drivers.
Anyone bought a good one recently?
Or know of any good offers at the moment?

Halfords professional range is excellent - they have offers across the range all the time, sometimes a trolley jack will be half price, a few weeks later, it's a socket set...so time it right and you can grab a bargain

Our halfords have got a deal on ( well it's been on for months ) and you get a 150piece Pro socket set, 3/8 and 1/2 inch ratchets and a few others.

Have a look anyway, I use these tools all day every day and have not had a notable problem yet.

Just had a look at their website, the 150 piece is half price at 99 quid, looks good but I already have far too many spanners and it has quite a few , but the 100 piece socket tray at 80 quid looks like it fits the bill perfectly.
Will take a trip there tomorrow or Saturday for a closer look.

Are there any special tools needed for the BJ that anyone has come across by any chance?

Nothing come's to mind, just a piston wind back tool for the rear brakes.

10mm spanner and some rust treatment...that's pretty much all you'll need

Lots of it too. . .

A small hammer, a bigger hammer and an even bigger hammer - ohh and a mallet - and plenty of plus gas / WD40 - large extension bar. ohh and a big hammer

A 32mm hub nut socket.
A 8mm allen key. (Brake calipers)
A MIG welder!

Luckily I have the 32mm socket and allen key in my box already and have mig and tig at work with plentiful supplies of sheet and plate, so it seems like we're all set !!!!

Oops not to forget I have an array of persuaders aswell

So I had a ride down to Halfords to check out the socket sets and bought the 100 piece socket tray for £79.99 BARGAIN!!
Whilst I was there I had a look for some new axle stands and came across a really good deal.
It's a 6 piece lifting set which includes 2 x 2tonne axle stands, 2 x steel wheel choks and a 2 tonne trolley jack plus a padded car creeper (skateboard to lie on whilst under the car) for £39.99!!!!!!
Reduced from 60 or 70 quid.
My trolley jack was on it's last legs, so today I am a really happy chappy.

cant stress the 8mm socket enough, ive changed so many brake pads on an array of cars.
they all seem to use an 8mm allen key, ive brought a teng tools allen key to socket (1/2" drive) set and its amazing.
