Thought I'd post this up here as afew people are starting to service there cars.

Mazda part number for the oil filter for the BJ ( and others) B6Y1-14-302-9A . This is the Filter that a Dealer parts desk will give you when ordering . Its the filter that Mazda recommends fitting to the BJ.

HOWEVER

The oil filter I had fitted and have had for many years is the Larger capacity filter from the V6 . Larger Capacity which is better for our engines as they can suffer from oil starvation.
Part number JEY0-14-302-9A . I order this direct from Mazda Dealership. I have been told that some parts departments say its no longer available which isn't true. I bought mine today

it's a very good filter... it's hard to get them here now because Mazda USA stopped importing them and switched to a local supplier (Purolator)

I have a used Tokyo Roki filter that's sitting around waiting to be cut open... it was used in a friend's car... rare find.... will cut it open and take some photos of it soon
I still have my brand new one in the box

I will offering the larger capacity filter on all future service kits too, I've done it on and off for a long time, but will make it permanent now.

if you start selling the Mahle filters for our cars, it is the exact same filter as the one pictured above Mahle is Mazda Europe's filter supplier

found some oil filters on ebay if anyone is having issues locating the Jeyo filter

I never heard of this brand, so the quality is unknown... if someone would care to buy one and dissect one, then we will know then if it's good or bad

personally, I rather stick to the tried and true Mahle filters
