Looking at a new car and mot check reveals an advisory for an inner sill repair, is this a potentially expensive repair, or worst case, walk away from it. I have never welded before so out of my skill range sadly

Try & think "positive" that repair could only be 2" x 4" ?

A few good stabs with a screw driver along its length will tell

This is true, but I'm guessing I will have to cut away the outer sill to get at the inner, that's the worrying bit.

When they reference 'inner sill' is this not the sill inside the car? If so then thats easier to weld up and fix than the outside! And we all know a friendly welder

It's gonna be a b*tch to do the inner sill Paul, I know this is an oldish thread but, maylander did them on his Lantis I think, took him a while from memory.

Unless you have a good deal invested in the car, like I have in Meanie for example, I would definitely walk away, there are very good solid cars out there, you just have to be patient and hold out for a good one
