Hi Guys

Hopefully someone can help. I have a seized rear caliper and am having trouble with the bottom slider pin. I can't get the caliper off the mount.

I've taken the little metal cap off the caliper and can see a bolt inside which looks about 10mm, I can't get a socket on it though to remove it due to the diameter of the hole being too small. I've had a search through the forum and from what I have found it looks like I do not need to undo this bolt, the caliper should just slide off the slider.

So 2 questions, do I need to remove this bolt? Secondly, what is the best way to remove a caliper that has seized on to a slider?

From memory I think you just undo the bottom bolt with an allen key, and swing the caliper up until it clears the disc/hub and then slide it off the top slider.

Rear caliper has bolt at top and slider at bottom.
Take top bolt out and it should slide of bottom pin.
Spray plenty Wd40 in slider and wiggle caliper up and down to loosen it while pulling at same time.

I had a bolt at the top and another at the bottom. It wasn't an allen key but a normal hex bolt you would undo with a spanner. Unfortunately the slider was seized so I couldn't push the caliper down the slider to move the head of the bolt up to the socket.

Anyway, I got it undone by taking the caliper and caliper bracket off the car, placed it in a vice so that the bracket could rotate freely on the lower slider, wedged the bolt head with a screw driver then rotated the caliper bracket which loosened the bolt. Repeat until bracket and caliper come apart.

New caliper, disc and pads on now and all is good!

Just to add to this old thread, i had to unclip the handbrake cable to get the caliper to rotate enough to get past the strut slider clip and some brute force.

One 12mm bolt at the top and slide it back.

the mounting braket is two 14mm nuts.

or you can unbolt the bracket that holds the cable assembly to the caliper, nice and easy
