Hi All,

I just bought some new tailgate gas-struts, but the fitting is different - can anyone please advise how to transfer the ball joint off the old one and on to the new one?
The new one seems to have some kind of spring clip, but the old one doesn't and I can't seem to get the ball off the old strut?

Er, I'd say that trying to swap balls is the way forward. Might need some persuasion..., you got a slide hammer?

Which replacement struts did you get. Mazda ones were silly money when I asked the parts department, so I've left it for now.

Hi Zippy, yes I guessed genuine Mazda ones would be too expensive so I didn't even ask; I got these (Monroe) ones off Ebay. They are supposed to be "genuine OE spec".
