Fitting a Mazda Mx-6 rear strut Bar- all Bj's

I received my Rear brace / bar today and decided to fit it as the weather was fine...

I followed the guide which was posted on www.Mazdas247.com

I was going to do my own BUT my pictures didn't turn out any good

The job is quite easy and I think the rear bar should fit all 323f Bj's.
I bought the bar off eBay for around £40 delivered and it only needs a small amount of modifying to fit. :thumbright:

What I will add though is to TAKE YOUR TIME while cutting the boot trims as if you miss cut or drill and force the trim back on it will crack and snap......... Like mine has

No pics its too dark, But I'm re-doing the trims tomorrow (if Im allowed to have the time allocated to me :roll:

) so I'll try then.

As for handleing I think so, but I have the stiffer thicker anti-roll bar which helps abit also..

i maybe oldschool, but cutting safety relevant metal parts in half isn't my idea of tuning :ß

Only really cutting a small amount off the seat belt holder which only raises the seat belt for clearance. It does not effect the part anway.
and the plastic boot trims .

I just used a very large crescent wrench (adj spanner?) on the lip of the seat belt mount & bent it up so the bracket would clear so no cutting was necessary. I also measured about 35 times & cut once to make the smallest openings in the side panels possible. Pics forthcoming when I resample all of them so they'll not violate pic rules here.

Hi Folks,

Took another approach with this with my rear brace. I ordered from the US a MX6/Probe rear brace and when it arrived and I stripped the car down the angle of the brackets was all wrong and I could see more clearly what you guys mean about the seat belt risers.

Given that the brackets were wromg I had nothing to loose and took the seat belt risers and brackets into my local metal fabricator. I got them to cut off the receiving loops from the wrong brackets and reweld them in place on the seat belt risers. Since the risers are sturdy metal this wasnt an issue and it corrected the angle and solved them interfering at the same time.

Mounting was simple as its all one unit now and all I did was carefully mark the location on the back of the rear panels and use the smallest hole saw I could to allow the receivers to protrude through the panels.

Fitted and tightened up the whole car feel more taught and generally tighter to drive. Id previously fitted a rear brace in a hatchback that had the rear stripped and it made a huge difference - but even with the seats etc in place the 323 definately feels better...

The brace cost 30 delivered I think and the cost of a drink was all it took at the local fabricators... so I'm happy

I can't believe the cost of the brace and delivery from the US, I went to buy a set of bulbs and was quoted $70 for shipping

Not much to see now since its all back together mate - and given the number of clips etc I dont plan on dissaembling again in a hurry... no rattles though!

The brace was like 7 quid with 20 odd postage.. hurumph

would replacing just the antirollbar kit be worth it or not ?

ordering rear strut friday
ordering bushing's friday
awaiting the 40mm lowering springs. ( will i need to change my drop link's ?)

Probably will. I had to cut my old ones off when I lowered mine. They are cheap so you might as well

Replacing the bushes will do more than fitting a brace.

Be warned with these braces not to over tighten them, several Probes and MX-6 have had their rear strut tower welds pulled apart with these fitted.

mine has nto ling been replaced
they come in diffrent size's too so what should i go for ? or can i just leave it as it is ?

only looking to take this apart once. so im getting the strut, polybushing's and boot seal's all at once.
