hi there have a problem with my car it has a lag in batween 2000/3000 rpm this happens more noticably when in second at low speed, when i accalerate in trying to sort it i have changed the dissy cap/rotary arm, the ingnition leads, spark plugs, clean out all air-in-take system with special cleaner but nothing has work if anyone has any ideas would be grat been trying to get this sorted for a while now (does my head in) thanks

My lag issue with the V6 has improved no end from changing the fuel filter.

Doesnt cost a bomb and probably has never been done. Awkward to change unless you have little hands like me

Air filter helps once rolling, add some Redex injector cleaner every 3-4 fillups, change the oil, check the air intake for cracks/holes and give it a thorough check over.

It could also be a sensor thats not working correct. But I would try the filter first!!

if you've checked all your air intake side of things - next would be the fuel

hi ok have tryied pretty much every thing to do with air intake have not changed fuel filter though were do i find it. and wat sensor would this be cheers

Like others have said, are you sure you have checked the rubber air intake tubing coming from the air filter box? Often get splits and cracks that you can't see until you look close.

Here you go mate , The fuel filter is the black cylinder shape made of plastic
next to the bulkhead on the right hand side!!!

That plastic cylinder isn't the fuel filter. The fuel filter is a smaller metal can shape with a straight pipe coming out one side and an angled pipe off the other side. Its located roughly in the same spot but closer to the engine and slightly in under the throttle body.



The shiney black surface is the end of the filter and on the right of the picture is the bottom end of the plastic cylinder you were talking about.

thats ok mate no worry (edwumaster) but wat the hell is the carbon canister does this affect performance at all wats it do? sounds abit scientific to me

It filters petrol vapours out of the tank when the vehicle is stood according to my tech guys at work. It should then purge the vapour and fluid into the intake on start up and burn them off.

Its an environmental thing and has no relevance on performance.

P.S. have you changed the fuel filter yet? I cant belive how much smoother it as after changing. Will do another long term fuel consumption test to see if I have gained.

I was getting 690 miles to 110 litres of fuel (£100). Works out at 28.48 MPG?

We will se over the next two weeks.
