Hey guys, just had a thought, how much are bigger injectors? are they easy to fit and what kinda price are we looking at? Thanks

bigger injectors cost between 80€ and 160€. They are not easy to fit, because you need a custom made intake manifold. If you re able to make such a thing than the rest wont be a problem. On flatlander-ipp racing you can order em. That is the only site i have seen em on, but i havent really looked for them. You d best look out for a bigger fuelpump aswell. I ve read an article on this site about fitting a pump for the RX7 in our cars. Do note that you need it chiptuned aswell, other wise you wont be using the bigger injectors either. IF you are looking for a custom made manifold you d best take one with a bigger butterfly. More air does the trick on this one. Good luck |

No, it s just at finding and modifying the parts, that s just a lot of work, time and money. I ve seen skunk2 intake manifolds for honda 1.8, with a bigger butterfly, thought it was a 67mm, but to start modifying that, damn that s a load of work for ya. It is worth all the trouble if you re gonna get a fully tuned engine out of it. And it doesnt matter if you stick with N\A or forced induction. One way or another this is something you need to do if you want to increase your overall power. (nitrous only works if you can inject a large amount of fuel, if not, well then you can go beyond 20hp shots) Keep us updated on your works. Wanna do it too, but because of recent circumstances i dont have the money for that

Bigger injectors are only really an use on a car that needs more fuel due to forced induction, Shaggy has bigger injectors I think
Fitting them to an NA car with stock ECU will probably only cause you grief chap, since the computer won't supply them with anything but the usual amount of fuel

like i said, have it chipped and a bigger fuelpump. After that it all comes down to your intake. If you got high-flow valves or bigger valves you ll notice the effect of bigger injectors. He doesnt really need it right now, but when his engine is modifyd enough he s defenately gonna need them. By putting them in now he s creating a better basis for the future. |

Sorry chap, but there is no way its a good idea to fit bigger injectors BEFORE you spend ££££££ on upgrading the engine in my opinion

I ve been looking a bit more into this. If you do get the bigger injectors without the proper setup of your car's brains, you ll run super rich (not that good for your engine). You must really get a stand alone fuelmanagement system. It does give you a bit more power and you ll still run rich. But you ll get some proformance. A direct fit would the the injectors from an RX7. They will fit both the B6 and the BP. The b6 have 190CC injectors. The BP have 230CC injectors. The RX7 have 330CC injectors. There is a guy that made his own forced induction B6 who has done this. You can read a bit more at his page. (by the way contrary to popular believe, he did it on a stock fuelpump!) Edit: Injectors on Stock ECUs "The stock ECU is limited in injector size to about a 270-310 cc/min injector depending on how well you want the car to idle. There have been people that have modified the stock FPR to run bigger injectors by lowering the base fuel pressure. The idea behind raising the stock fuel pressure is to get the injectors to flow more fuel. By adding the AFPR or a rising rate fuel pressure regulator is that you can get the injectors to flow more fuel under boost by raising the rail pressure as the boost rises. The problem with the stock ECU is not really the amount of boost, it is that the boost is limited by the amount of fuel the injectors can flow and still let the car idle. If you could get the car to idle with larger injectors than the 270 -310 cc/min, then you could run more boost. Some people have been able to run up to 10-12 psi on 1.8 injectors (230 cc/min) on the 1.6 and the same amount using the 270-310 injectors. It is getting to the edge of practicality as the rail pressures that you must run to support that flow rate are near 110-120 psi and on the edge of leaks and injector lock. I ran 1.8 injectors in a 1.6 at 9-10 psi and 110 psi fuel rail pressures for a time and did not have any issues. The stock ECU has really nothing to do with "reading" the boost pressure at all. The only limitation is how big an injector it can make idle. After the ECO goes open loop at full throttle and under boost, the amount of fuel that flows is regulated by the pressure the AFPR causes in the rail beyond whatever opening and fuel the ECU provides. It is the pressure increase that increases the fuel." Jess Gypin Your problem is the injector size with the stock ECU. 300 cc injectors cannot be used with the stock ECU. The Stock ECU cannot provide that small a pulse width at idle. See the many threads about this at Miataforum Powermods. 250ish is about the largest you can use and maintain a decent idle O2." Didn't quite understand about the ECU and idle stuff (english is not native language). So the problem is that ECU cannot maintain a steady fuel flow when the engine is idle? |

It can't send a small enough pulse to the injectors to allow the small amount of fuel through the large injectors at idle I think. |
