Got Apiro Torque induction kit off ebay new for £26 delivered to the door, fitted today took 20 minutes
Fired it up and V6 sounds much better and louder, actually noticed difference in general driving, pick up better
Easy to fit and V6 now has V8 rumble on second gear acceleration

My advice would be to get it lower in the engine bay. Not sure how much space there is in the V6 bay, but at the moment all you're suckin in is hot If you're impressed now, you will be impressed with a better air flow.
If you can get a pipe closer to the floor, there's a standard airscoop on the engine tray plastics

looks good, what did you do with that sensor thing which normally is stuck to the side of the airbox?

Not sure what Justice did, but there are a couple of ways you can do with the airflow censer. You can either get a 2nd pipe from a scrappy and extend the wires to plug it in to the new bit of pipe, leave it where it is, or put a bean can just before the filter and cut a hole in the bean can and shuv it in there.

As long as it is in the pipe not long after the filter

I have drilled and sealed mine to the air filter that I have fitted. It still vents off into the intake so should have no detrimental effects.

As for the air flow. I can see what all saying, but if you drive along at 10mph upwards and then pop you bonnet and check the temps on your air filter its the same as normal air temps. Due to natural airflow into the engine.

Once your over 10MPH the airflow into the engine bay will be cool?

The only advantage would be a system like M1tch's with the ram feed from the front bumper to a sealed air filter system. This should give you a greater BHP (possibly up to 5-10BHP?)and throttle response should be almost instant.

Would be nice to see some test results but I reckon you can only gain 1BHP or so by having the intake low. Only in cirtain situations aswell?

LOL. If you read higher up the thread Joe is on about placing the air filter as low DOWN (I missed the key word) in the engine bay as possible. Hot air rises so place it near to the floor.

I was merely discussing this.

My discussion point was going to be about the chances of hydrolocking the engine by sucking up water as there will be more chance of this near to the floor.

I see plenty of engines at work that have ended there lifes in this way!!

well in my post, i was talking about the standard airscoop in the engine bay plastics at the bottom of the car

I ran a cold feed to the slot in the undertray for 5 years before perfecting my trademark bumper intake (which is quite a bit higher) so you can rest assured there's no danger if hydrolocking Unless you're dumb enough to drive through a REALLY deep puddle

On some CAI they have a trap to stop water intake. It doesnt take much water to bend a rod.

I was just wondering, as if its totally sealed there will be a vacuum that will draw water up to the inlet. Especially if its belting it down.

mine is sealed also nothing fancy though - normal airbox with piperX panel filter and rubber intake pipes and a wee duct going into the undertray.

not had a problem yet but not been in heavy flood like rain yet!

ill just disconnect the bottom half of the pipe if the rain gets that bad

Thats what I was planning to do before I bought the air/cone filter.

Mine is as follows, intake in bumper, 'pudding bowl' air scoop mounted 6 inches behind it, Jetex flexi pipe plumbed into the back of it then into the bottom of the OE airbox using the origional Jetex collar fastened to the airbox bracket with a custom bracket, good fit, 5mm clearance around the collar, Power Filter (JDM) foam panel filter!

As for rain, the day after I fitted it, I drove to Liverpool through one of the heaviest rainstorms of 2006, there and back, actually improved my milage on that trip

Ah, I see what you have done. Great idea using the stock airbox and I bet you have some decent gains on a cold day at speed (limit of course).

Is a break on yours between the intake on the bumper and the CAI pudding bowl that goes up to the box?

EDIT: If you have a small amount of water entering it would act like an aquamist system. Slighty more basic granted. But you should see mileage gains as your car will be part steam powered!!

The pipe that connects to the AFM is left loose until new part arrives to connect between filter and AFM not noticed any issues yet
