I will then make sure the original KF gearbox will fit in the new KL engine?

Is there a kind person who can tell if it fits together?

i personally find that the KF/K8 gearbox final ratio (4.388) to be too short, particularly since you're adding much more torque and then also reducing the vehicle weight. it becomes like driving a truck and hurts acceleration. something to consider!

Yep, this is definitely true. I am looking to get a gearset together to lower revs as much as I can.

KL gearbox will lower it a bit because the final drive is a bit longer. 4.105 instead of 4.388. Other gears remain the same. This is a straight swap into a 323f, only the lever will be tilted a bit back. The 4 cilinder engines in the mx6 and 626 ge have a shorter 5th gear 0.715. This is also a straight swap.

As in the other gearbox topic, I am looking into getting a 0.680 from a 626 GE diesel combined with an KL final drive. Possibly even a 3.85 final drive from another diesel but I'm not sure how well the car will still drive then as the revs will be significantly reduced.

I've been wondering this too, I have now KF and KL trannys, and they both are in good condition. So with KL tranny the acceleration will be better than KF ? And the donorcar was EDM 626GE KLDE

I'm going to stop you all straight away!
The KF gearbox will fit on the KL engine and everything will work.
If you're like me and choose to use the KL gearbox then you will need some custom driveshafts made up!
The KL driveshaft will not fit in the BA hub.
The KF driveshaft will not fit in the KL gearbox!
So having both KL and KF driveshafts I sent them to a company in Scotland who cut and welded them together.
The other thing I have noticed is that the reverse light is on constantly!

I have actually finished the long ratio KF gearbox that I said I was making and most of it worked. Except the speedometer would register the speed with the mx-6 diff. However I am not sure whether this was due to a broken sensor/connect or due to the diff being slightly different.

The mx-6 diff fitted straight in the KF bellhousing as did the 626 GE diesel 5th gear. Drove perfectly untill I smashed a synchomesh ring(I was told after Hellracer opened the gearbox after buying the car).
