I'm thinking of removing the black number plate surround off of my car, but am just wondering whether there is any modification involved in doing this, any holes revealed behind the surround itself etc...

i have done this myself the black plate is held on by 2x10mm screws.
you will need to re drill the number plate to fit them holes

Or you could just stick it back on like we did. You can buy the sticky number plate fixing pads from Halfords

One of the first ever things I did to my F was remove the black surround

Like Dom and Debz say, either re-drill the plate to fix it directly to the bumper or stick it on with pads

Yep I'm width Debz on this one :thumbleft:

"number plate adhesive" or "double sided tape that is slightly overpriced but possibly a bit stronger" as I like to call it!

I have always been a fan of screw on rather than stick on, mainly as I always wanted to swap plates at shows etc. The plastic number plate screws are the same thread (M6x1) as the bolts holding the surround on too

Some random pic I found…
