That's correct. As far as I'm aware, in UK the filter is only available on the V6, and possibly special editions. I don't know about European models.
The filters are loaded up through a slot in the bottom of the white housing below the dashboard. I believe you load 3 at the same time. They are kept in place by a small, plastic, oblong "lid" that covers the slot. If your car doesn't have the filter option, you will find solid plastic where the "lid" would go. I have seen someone here claim that they cut out the plastic where the slot should be, and then fitted the filters anyway; but I don't know how they did that, or if it worked.
You might also have trouble finding the filters. I bought some that were supposed to be for the BA, but it turned out they were for the BJ. BA filters are long and thin, BJ filters are square (if any BJ owners want the filters, DM me as I can't use them!)
I've not found anyone selling BA filters, so please let me know if you find a supplier
