Thought I had an answer to this, but it turns out not.

Does anyone know anything about this named driver no claims bonus?

Basically I have been insured as a named driver for 2 years with Diamond, I had an accident in the first year but not the second, therefore I thought I had 1 years named driver no claims for use with the Admiral group which Diamond are a part of. I've just rang up Elephant which are part of this group who say I am not allowed it, so I rang Diamond back who confirmed I was, so I re-rang Elephant who again said I wasnt, I therefore asked to speak to a manager who told me I was mis-informed by Diamond and that this named driver no claims bonus is not valid for me as he said:

"Its an introductory bonus which is offered to named drivers depending on certain factors, and you're not eligable as a fault claim cancels out 2 years of this NCB, therefore the accident you had in 09 means you are not eligable for any bonus"

Does anybody know if this is correct as I would of assumed I had 1 years bonus as the accident was in my first year not my second? Although he said this introductory named driver bonus doesn't work like that?

Is this true because I argued and argues and complained at how I was misinformed and asked if there was anything he could do because of how I was treated but nothing seemed to work lol?

Thanks

Ask Diamond for a letter confirming what NCB you've earned at the time of policy cancellation/renewal. That should be enough for any other insurance company whether part of the same group or not ;)

Yep if you can get proof of your no claims bonus (or claim free driving period), that is enough to get them to give you the discount.

I spent my first 2 years as a named driver with Churchill. I then had the policy cancelled, and started my own policy with Sky Insurance, who offered me a 2 year no claims bonus, for having 2 years of claim free driving :) All I had to do was send copies of 3 insurance certificates from Churchill (start of policy, end of first year, end of 2nd year).

All insurers would be different I imagine, but that should be enough. They offer no claims discount, you have proof of your no claims, they should honour the discount :dontknow:

The only problem with that is that the no claims certificate only has my mums name on it and not mine as she was just the named driver, they said to quote the ref no. On the certificate when calling elephant, once I did that they told me I was not eligable?

 hold on then, so your mum was the main driver, and you were the named driver. So your mum will have built up a year's no claims, and you will have a named driver discount if you take out your own policy with the same company blah blah blah.

But Elephant is not the same company (despite being run by the same people) so they most likely wouldn't honour the discount, because you've only been a named driver rather than a policy holder. Your named driver discount won't be with Admiral group, it will be with Diamond :(

Now, I must go find other threads you've posted in and reply to those

Thats the way its meant to work yep, but nah I rang Diamond and asked and they said as Diamond is a womans only insurance the named driver NCD is valid with all companies in their group?

Yet now elephant are saying as the way it works is its an introductory bonus, that it isnt valid as what they do is take a look at your previous years driving and base it on that, therefore due to my accident being a fault claim which cancels out 2 years of NCB, that the crash in my first year has meant im not eligible for any despite not having any claims in the second year, now that doesn't seem fair to me especially as their policy terms does not contain this little loophole? :(
