After a visit from Stuz on the weekend, It appears his V6 has a ice warning light on the dash. How many other BA owners have this? Ive never seen this on my dash :dontknow:

I thought that was only on automatics, when you press the ice mode, the gears change at lower revs.

Other than that i have never seen it!

Stu's V6 is manual like mine, the lights on the right hand side of the dash.

He said he'll post a pic of the light illuminated later.

I asked about this and some other lights and I think its a preford thing and needs extra sensors etc? All the instrument clusters still have the space for the light, but some with no bulb in because the car doesn't have the wiring/sensors.

Bloody Ford cheaping out on things. I've got a washer bottle light as well... that is unused. And some others but I can't remember what they were for.

I think this should be a legal requirement for all cars that are manufactured for the UK / Europe market. Stuz, If you find a system that can be retro fitted please make it known as I would certainly fit it.

there is loads on the market, trying to find one that looks nice and fits somewhere nice is the real problem.

why?

If you're not clever enough to know when conditions are icy, should you really be behind the wheel of a car?

To most people that little light simply means "drive at no more than 20mph, and brake suddenly when you see the road has ice on it"

Fair comment Marcrs, but the truth of the matter is that most people seem to think that cold or rain means "get home quicker" so, foot flat on the go faster pedal, then we who can drive and have some sence end up as vitums of the idiots. Sure there are more than a few here like me who know that to well.

The old company car Ford Focus used to beep at you and show a light when it was 'chilly' out (amber for chilly, and red for very chilly). So when it was hovering between the two temps that triggered it, it would keep beeping at you, and it was the most horrid, annoying beep ever. You spend all your time worrying about the beep than trying to drive properly

Just get a standard thermometer, open the window slightly and wedge it in - ambient temperature gauge

I wonder if I stick a bulb in my ice warning light bit, will it work?

ice sensor was only on the preford V6 - wiring is there on the Pre ford 1.5 and 1.8

Washer level sensor wiring is on the preford, but no sensor.......

Climate control on the Lantis uses the sensor so you cant have both (without doing some rewiring)

Bummer no wiring or sensor for me then :( seems silly to have a useless light, I'll make one! :evil4:

So my Type-R should have this sensor? I never get a warning light... even when it's - 27!

yeah you've got the sensor, but as i said (badly) - your car will use it for the climate control so you wont get the ice light on the dash
