Post subject:  Room fuse constant blow off
I had my BA boosted by rac with a booster pack and after that the central locking, radio and clock have blown. I know tis the room fuse but after replacing it it melted in about 3sec. My aircon is also playing on me as it switches from one position to another, from front and footwell to defroster.
had a look at the normal interior light, pulled out all the door switches and checked them, checked the boot light, took the radio out and disconnected the adapter.
Checked it with a hair pin as i dont have another fuse to burn, but as soon as i get it in it either sparks just before it makes contact or it seems to heat up so the problem is still there.
The problem was not there before the boost start though so i cant think what the issue is. my interior light and boot light have not worked for some time though without blowing the fuse.
I haven`t checked any other fuses except the room fuse. Might check each one individually.
Anyone know what could be a common issue or do i have to take everything apart? :)

Sounds like something hasn't taken kindly to the booster, you say the airflow on the heater keeps changing about, if you know how to take the dash off, it might be worth disconnecting the control panel and then trying a new fuse to see if that thing has somehow gotten fried.

Having said that, I'm not sure if its linked to the room fuse but it might be worth a go. Somewhere something has been shorted out, could be a cow to find.

Thanks for the tip. I`ll fiddle around to find out how to do take that apart. I`m trying to figure out what could possibly short. I`ll start at the heater think but if the short is there why blow the room fuse and not some sort of heater fuse? :p Anyways i`ll check that then focus on the central lock sensor in the ceiling :)

There is a multi control unit. It's about 8" long and it's integrated into the fusebox. Might be worth taking it out and dismantling it.

Good point - I forgot about that thing, which I'm sure is tied into the room fuse and probably has something to do with the heater as well.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, its a white rectangular box?

Yeah its the white box. It's a bit of a b*tch to get out though. Lots of fiddly connectors.

Thank you for all the replies. Sorry in the end I did scrap that zxi. I'm looking at getting another one tomorrow. I really hope it's not a lemon. I got to make up for removing one of these beauties from our roads.
