Ok, getting a smell of oil (i think) inside car when its warmed up. Had a look around rocker cover and dizzy area but can't see any signs of leaking. Had a smell of my breather filter and i'm sure its oil :? Airbox clean also.

As many know she has had a new engine in her so i am a bit paranoid after all her prev problems. Have checked the oil cap etc and all clean so am i worrying over nothing or what  . Not noticed any rough running etc since her transplant but the smell is just not nice.
Any suggestions as to what else it could be :dontknow:

Cam seals?

Bit of oil spilt after topping up?

Any of the other gaskets...get an inspection lamp and have a good nosey around, from underneath also if you can ;)

Yeah i get this same problem too. I have changed the rocker cover gasket, o ring on the dizzy, and also changed the sump as that was leaking oil but i still get the smell. I am thinking now it could be the cam oil seals as there seems to be oil around the cambelt cover which isn't good! Anyone know how difficult it is to change the came seals? Obviously i will be changing the cambelt because of the oil leaking near it!

Please someone tell me it's nothing too serious as if it is and it's going to be costly then it could be her demise :(
Am going to have a real good inspection tomorrow (well as far as i can) and hope i can see a leak somewhere .

I don't think its anything serious chuckles. It just a case of finding the oil leak and fixing it. The smell you are getting it oil dripping onto the exhaust somewhere and coming into the car through the air vents. Do you get the smell all the time or only at a standstill? When i am driving i can't smell it at all, its only when i get to traffic lights and been at a standstill for a little bit i can start to smell it.

I do hope so. Possibly i might just be being too sensitive but after the new engine saga i'm a bit paranoid.
Car was parked up at work for 3hrs and as soon as i started her up and put the blower on to clear the windows you could smell it. So she wasn't even warm :?

Top of the gearbox i believe :P

Its unlikely as your engine is new, but could be valve seals? when i start mine from cold, blue smoke fills the street, if i have the blowers on, smoke comes into the car and smells oily, could be the same only less intense than mine

When you park the car at night, place a spread out newspaper, an old sheet or a cardboard box under the engine over night.
If theres an oil leak there will be evidence on the ground in the morning, even if its just as few drops or so.
Don't panic, just make sure your oil is topped up.

Mine came loose a while ago and I was getting an oily smell coming inside the car. Tightened it up and the smell went. If you look inside the engine bay down to the right on the upper side of the gearbox there is a nut (23mm I think). Here is a pic of sorts

Think its sorted :D
Since putting in my CAI and ditching the old airbox, haven't noticed the smell. The old airbox still had a bit of oil in the bottom from before she had her new engine (obviously we cleaned up what we could) but they're was still some there.
Happy now.
