Post subject:  Interior Light Bulb Specifications- BA

Update history
  • 14-Apr-2017 Confirmed
    • Glovebox lamp
    • Door (courtesy) lamps now listed as type 158
    • reformat listings
  • 12-Apr-2017 Confirmed
    • Boot lamp
    • Door (courtesy) lamps
    • Interior map lamps
    • Interior Dome (with map lamps) lamp
    • Post text

(Dredging up an old thread...)

Confirming my interior light specs for a 1994 BA hatch. I might this a small separate post, might be useful to 'sticky'. I've left out the filament design 'cos I think that' just going too far and LEDs won't obey it anyway. But I'm sure you know that already :)

Note these are for the hatch model- sedan boot may be different.

I'll colour what I'm after in bold red italics.
Confirmation required in bold orange.
Confirmed I'll make bold green.
And I'll try to keep an update date so people know where it's up to.

The ones I've confirmed are:
Hatch boot lamp:
Festoon T43x10.5/12866 (~41-43mm long x 10.5mm wide)
12V/10W

Door ("courtesy") lamps:
T3 1/4 wedge type 158 (roughly W5W size), 22mm long x 9.5mm wide, approx 6mm contact spacing
12V/3.4W

Glovebox lamp:
T3 1/4 wedge type 158 (roughly W5W size), 22mm long x 9.5mm wide, approx 6mm contact spacing
12V/3.4W

Interior Dome Map lamps:
501/W5W and/or T10 size, W2.1 x 9.5d
12V/5W.
This should be a fairly standard one, esp. for Mazda/Japanese.

Interior Dome (with Map lamps) main lamp:
31mm festoon x 10mm (9.5?) dia
12V/10W .
This should be a fairly standard one, esp. for Mazda/Japanese.

If anyone wants to add any extra info e.g. for dash bulbs, centre console bulbs, ignition key bulb (is there one? I can't remember) etc let me know and I'll pop them in here too. Be nice to have a canonical list.

Some useful sites for finding light bulb specs (apart from Google ;-) )are:

I'm not likely to dismantle my dash/console so I'll probably leave those bulbs out. Unless someone who already has them apart gets the info for me? (hint-hint! :) )

Be careful when you go to replace the bulbs- my plastics are all fragile now and when removing the door courtesy lamp cover (carefully too) the cover's tiny tab actually chipped off the holding plastic on the door fitting.

Cheers,

Patrick

Post subject:  UPDATED: Interior Light Bulb Specifications- BA

It started raining when I wanted to drive the BA (can't get 'My Precious' wet now, can I? ;-) ) so I decided to do something useful.

Post subject:  UPDATED 2: Interior Light Bulb Specifications- BA

Found a glovebox light I didn't know I had 'cos it's never worked (dud contact)... well it does now and the spec has been added.

Post subject: Interior Light Bulb Specifications- BA above has been updated again, including the glovebox lamp and courtesy lamp type. Also a reformat for an easier read. Hope it helps!

Cheers,
Patrick
