went outside today and started my 1.8 ba up and oh my good did it my smoke blue and not just a little bit but a lot any ideas what this could b it has never done this b4

valve stem oil seals is my guess

My 1.5 BA was the same, used to fill the street, mine suffered from piston slap aswell which made things worse, and when I did an engine flush I ruined it altogether

Any untoward noises from the engine? As I thought stem seals went gradually not overnight

no there is no strange noises sounds as sweet as it always did
gave it a service just over a month ago and has been fine with no smoke it just covered the street within 2 mins did cleare abit after it got up to temp

you aint overfilled the oil have you? that will make it smoke,

Strange question to ask but was the car parked in the same position when it started with no smoke as it was when it did?

My mother in law had an Astra and if you parked it on a side gradiant it filled the street with smoke, and if pasked the otherway roundnot a whiff of it
