Hi All can anyone help me. I have a 1998 ZXi V6 special edition but never had any remotes for it .. for a few years now .. just been using the Key .. decided to buy a second hand Mazda remote .. getting the car into programming mode was a crazy !! Trying lots of methods … finally one works .. ignition on and off and key out each time then 3 press the door switch … it bleeps once .. then after some tile it bleeps 4 times .. but the door lock never cycles !! I’ve tried pressing the remote x2 on buttons nothing …
Then someone said maybe it’s got a cobra alarm ?

Any ideas ? How do I check for cobra alarm ? Also can I still programs the Mazda remote or do I need the two button cobra one ?

This is a very frustrating process … would appreciate any help here !

Hi! :D

Hopefully someone with alarm know-how can answer your query. I have a V6 SE, but the alarm on mine was added later, doesn't work, and I haven't got into sorting that out yet!

Meanwhile we do have a Whatsapp Group for V6 owners, if you use Whatsapp and that's of interest to you. At the moment we have about a dozen members, which nowadays must account for at least a third of the V6s left on the road, and some members have more than one!

If so, leave a message below and I'll PM you a link to the group.

Serena

After reading your post, I'm not sure you are doing all the steps correctly. Note step 10 says "or" not "and".
This is the procedure I use (for the BJ - I'm assuming it's the same for the BA):-

1. All Doors closed, ign on.
2. Remove ign key.
3. Open drivers door.
4. Insert ign key, turn ign on, turn ign off, remove ign key.
5. Insert ign key, turn ign on, turn ign off, remove ign key.
6. Insert ign key, turn ign on, turn ign off, remove ign key.
7. Press and release the drivers door switch.
8. Press and release the drivers door switch.
9. Press and release the drivers door switch.
10.Buzzer should sound once or doors lock/unlock themselves.
11.Press any transmitter button twice.
12.Buzzer should sound once or doors should lock/unlock.
13.If you have only one transmitter, wait 30 seconds. If you have 2 transmitters go to step 15.
14.Buzzer should sound four times or doors should lock/unlock four times.
15.Press any button twice on next transmitter.
16.Buzzer should sound once or doors should lock/unlock.
17.Wait 30 seconds.
18.Test both transmitters.
