I have a '94 1.8 GLXi. 400W amp driving a bass box. This seems to make the headlights dim slightly with the bass line. I've not checked the size of the alternator yet, but does anyone know for sure whether this will effect the charging of the battery dramatically? If this is not good - can you get an uprated alternator - I guess the ZXi one won't fit. Mark (tannerma2002) |

Usually an uprated battery will sort it, try an optima yellow top battery or failing that a power cap should sort it, you'll only have to get an uprated alternator if you've got some serious ice |

The other option is to buy a power cap, you can get these from any car audio store. They are basically a battery reserve that and help prevent lights dimming, they also look very trick if you have a proper boot install HTH CraigC |

Hi, i know its a bit after the fact perhaps, but i fitted a deisel spec battery from a peugeot i think, i have a pioneer 100w powered sub and it seems to have taken care of the problem unless i really crank it, cost about £35. |
