Well, her she is......the new ride

she comes to me from col, via shayne, and drew, so she has been in the club for a while now :D
so now its my turn to put my mark on here and show her some tlc.

Yes she has issues, paintwork requires a few touch ups, track rod ends/tracking and ball joints to start off with, but overall, im very happy.

Also im under no illusions either, i got a good deal for my money, col was very helpfull and gave me as much info as he could.

i got what i paid for......and as a bonus, she is already dropped by 40mm and comes with HID'S too

there will be plenty more to add to the thread, as with this car i have no rust issues, she's a keeper.

It looks tidy mate, should look good when you've put your style on it. I think I sprayed the strutbrace the wrong colour for you I should have done it white

I would get underneath and give her a good coat of underseal so you will have no worries come mot time :)

well, today is day 1, and its been a busy one..... :D

for starters she was filthy, scratched and in need of some work.

first off a good wash, and a covering of t-cut, something ive never used before but it needed it, results are not perfect as there were, and still are some heavy scratches, these will need further work.

then it was time to start customising to my tatses....so

also fitted the cupra r splitter, orange sidelights and removed 'wing' badge and replaced with eternal flame badge....you may also notice the club sticker is not there, the plan was to overspray then remove so it would be there in blue, it went wrong so just oversprayed in the end

whilst i was at the front the number plate hanger was removed too

then i got into the engine bay, again covered in oil and filthy, but paint work is still good and pretty rust free

3 hrs, lots of coffee, the odd fag, a mysteriosly dissapearing towel, spray cans,swearing, moving the HID ballasts i was rewarded with this

all in all a good start, still a lot of things to sort out but i will update as things come along.

this is how she looks now..... :D

Your like me you don't hang about, painting the bumper recess black is defo my favourite mod as its so cheap and easy to do

I've already sourced big wheels, installed ice, fitted a gearknob and mg zs armrest, and I've only had the civic 2 days :)

today was a frustrating day...... :( , started off well enough, got the exhaust re-seated, so it no longer blows, but then i decided to remove the bump strips. one was hanging off when i bought it, no big prob i thought, they are coming off anyway.
at some point, one had been removed/dislodged and then refitted with what can only be described as 'no more nails'. them removed again, and took a 50p sized chunk of paint with it, then stuck down again with super glue.
after very carefull removal i was left with this.....

hmmmmm.....not overly impressed.
scrappy had a replacement, they wanted £60 :shock: i said no,
they rang back, and reduced to £30, popped down but it was rotten as hell
i think the answer may be to get a dent/scratch remover out to have a look

Ouch, that looks painful, i wanted to attempt this for ages but have been to scared :roll: £60 for a rotten replacement :shock: cheeky buggers, hope you get her sorted though mate, :D

Same happened with one of my white ones, removed the bump strip and was met with grey primer underneath

That's the same colour as the one round here that is clearly off the road, do you want me to ask him if he's breaking or scrapping it?
I can have a look at the door for you if so

Baz - honestly it nothing to worry about at all, just get a hairdryer on to heat it up and they come off really easily, its just the sponge backing and glue which stays behind and is a pain to shift, i use nail varnish remover or tar spot remover to get rid of it, its just time consuming.
Col - no worries mate, it was hidden so no one would have known.
Andy - yes please if you wouldnt mind, the paint code is 12r, it it were just normal glue it could be shifted eventually but this no more nails stuff is a bugger, if he is going to scrap it i would happily glue it back on and swap the door over for him if he would be interested.

today saw the arrival of my new, and very shiny, rear strut brace (cheers Paul). fiddly to install but cracked it in the end :D , took the car out for a test drive, not a hint of body roll, even on (my now new favourite) the triple roundabout near where i live.

the bootliner, as you can guess,and see is an absolute god send....especially in my job :D

i would definately recommend the brace too, the car feels more planted on the road and going into a corner it feels tighter right out the other end too :D

Just had a look at the door on that ba laid up near me, it's not in the best nick with quite a bit of rust along the bottom
Sills arnt much better, rust is the clearly the reason it's off the road :(

no worries andy, cheers for having a look for me :) , and chris, cheers, shes getting there, i think what i will do is persevere with getting the glue off slowly and a bit at a time, then see if it can be touched up at all.
