then cleaned and polished out the buffer-trail marks on the re-painted panels:



Much happier with how shes looking now
still can't drive her till Weds though, going to get her new front tyres, and checking the tracking too.

I have been thinking the same thing for a while too,
clear front sidelights would finish it off nicely.

Have found the guide on how to do it, but not got the time or skill yet.
Perhaps I will get a spare set to try on first

Thanks guys, for the great comments and offers of sidelights,
may be a while before I'm ready to do them though.
Especially after the nose-job respray, a new aerial and now needing 2 new front tyres.
Found a nail in one tyre and my mechanic reckons the tracking may be out, as have scrubbed off an inch from the inner edge.
Getting a new pair of F1's fitted on my day off tomorrow.

Finished cleaning and polishing last night.
Re-fitted my wiper spoiler,
had wet-sanded and polished it to remove the orange peel from my attempts at colour coding.
Much happier with the shine and finish, matches the rest of the car again, not too clear in this pic though:
(now need to paint the wiper arms )

Ordered a set of chrome indicator bulbs for when I de-orange the front sidelights,
and had a go at separating the sidelight unit, on a broken one I had in my garage.

after putting them back together, I painted the edge of the unit and inner edge of the lense black.

I thought it slims down the front view and gives a nice black surround (which matches my handles and mirrors)

and also hides any show through scratches from when I split the units

So you put the paint in the gap between the lens and housing....so it goes on the inside of the lens?

I'm in the process of clearing a pair(once i get a new uncracked one for one side) and painting the insides black so doing this may add a nice touch....that s if you don't mind me using your idea as inspiration?

Yep, I masked the edge and front of the lense, as well as the back of the unit, worked out well for mine, good luck with yours

Just started to get my F ready for the Dorset Japanese Car Show, next Sunday
Painted and laquered a set of wiper arms, bought from Jack Gilroy a few months back. Fitted them a week ago and they look much better

With the traditional summer weather, I've been concentrating on the engine bay this evening.
Needed a good clean, to remove the cutting compound dust (from my front end respray).
I'm pleased with it so far, cleaned as far as I can easily reach:

This car is an inspiration to us all.

Very, very impressive. Think there's a lot of hours in there Howie. Amazing job - well done.

I am ashamed to be having my car next to Howie's on the same stand at the Dorset jap car show... I have not claned mine yet and the engine bay has not been touched (cleaning wise) since it left the factory it seems... can I just hide mine away???

Ha Ha! i feel the same , my engine bay has 18years of crap! and she's running abit rough also! i'm not opening my bonnet up for no-one Ha Ha!

Update, after working on my F for the rest of the week,
including removing the alloys and cleaning the arches, as well as polishing everything within reach,
she was ready for the Dorset Japanese Car Show yesterday:

Nick travelled down with me in the morning to our pub meeting before the show, luckily the weather was dry:



While at the show, the other club323f members persuaded me to enter the Show and Shine competition.
There were some great looking cars there, and didn't think that my F would really stand much chance against the others in my age category,
including a couple of skylines:







So was totally shocked when they announced that I had won the first prize, a nice engraved trophy and some Auto Glym products:



The guy next to me with the black Mitsubishi FTO came second, we were both chuffed to bits.
We thought we were just making up the numbers, as it was the first time in a show and shine for both of us

I have still not quite taken it in, or stopped grinning
