Geez, just realised its been a while since i updated,

i've now replaced the indicator connectors that were bust with the ones saf sent me......

finally got that rounded bolt out and removed the remnants of the battery tray - took out the throttle body, dizzy and loosened off the heatshield and started unbolting the exhaust manifold

radiator and coolant pipes are out of the car as well

although I would have removed the gearbox as well, made your life easier for not much more work.

Also, I still see your selling you tax disc holders, fancy giving me one for a dashboard :P

Looking good guess you solved the probs on your own. Handy hint, get a clutch alignment tool, or you'll regret it when the new block goes in

ahhh i see space is important i suppose. news on mine is that is should be firing up next week. finally the microtech is at hand now. took ages cos they had to tailor make one for me to my requirements.

Work got in the way - slowed this way down

electrics almost finishd, need to get a clutch and sort out some rust then onto the cooler and some mods

my work contract runs out next week - so i i'll have a lot of free time on my hands

i hope to have her rolling soon

sweet dude! i drove my turbo for the 1st time today in months!!, when it came on boost i laughed my ass off! then hung on for my life! I forgot how great driving the f was! trust me ur gunna love it and smoke most things on the roads! get ur turbo on son! if u need any help hit me up ok squire!

Nothing really to report

I've been speaking to a few people on here - and have been getting some bits and bobs together for the car

unfortunately we havent had good weather up here for a long while and so i dont really have any new exciting pictures to show

I'm customising the looms for the car at the moment - all of them just for fun

but there's nothing really that i can show picture wise with that

I get what you need to do if you got 1.5 to stick a 1.8 BPT in, but i dont understand how you even start to wire the two up? I presume its as complex going from 1.8 to 1.8BPT? You doing all the wiring yourself?

Yeah i'm doing the wiring myself, a car sparky could probably have wired it in in a day, but i prefer to know what is going on and only want the looms to contain wiring they need rather than have 2 looms spliced together with redundant wires around

I'm adding stuff to the looms as well - and so i've been buying spare looms from breakers

A big delay for me is that i'm picking looms up at meets etc - so it takes time, but i've got patience plus gives me time to reread over what i'm doing


you need to get your hands on the GTR wiring manual

the wiring on a 1.8 and 1.5 arent that different, so you shouldnt run into many problems if you go with the conversion

Ok, well i have been offline for about a month now
The car has been moved to our new house and after unpacking the wiring from boxes, work has started up again

I finished the Emission loom for the car last week and have now started on the engine loom
I'm waiting on some parts and more wiring (2 more looms), and then i'll start on the Front loom followed by the instrument loom

Once all the looms are done i'll be turning my attention back to the car itself, treating some rust and adding components to the car that the new looms are being custimized to cater for (once the front loom is done i may go to work on the car and work on the instrument loom at the same time)

Oh almost forgot - i've also received a few other bits and bobs for the car whilst i've been offline, but i'll share the info once they're on the car

Cheers pal - it took a while to get it looking like that, for months i looked at it thinking i'd never get it looking tidy again


First thing i did when i got the GTX loom was to work out what each connector was for, this allowed me to then remove the connectors and wiring that wasnt needed - the abs for example runs through the emission loom on the GTX but runs through the Front loom on the BA

then, to get the BA loom wires to the same lengths as the GTX loom i got 2 BA looms, i used one to splice the wires from the connectors (the blue white and grey ones) to the corresponding wires on the GTX loom, and used the other one to lengthen any original wires that still needed to go through the loom (to the diag box for example)

so there was a lot of labelling, note taking and cable ties being used

Once finished i just insulation taped key areas to retain the shape of the loom, and then i put spiral wrap around the whole thing and more insulation tape over the top to tidy it all up.

As i made my own door looms as well i've had quite a bit of practice with the technique now

well bit of an update

Not long after finishing that loom i moved onto the instument loom, i soon discovered that i needed to run 2 more wires through the loom i'd "finished"

Not long after starting work on the instrument loom my family came to stay - i packed all of the looms up into boxes and put them in the garage (this was late august).

This week i have started work on the looms again, my plans are still to make a custom instument loom,.
But i will now just make an extra loom to run round the car with the front loom adding the extra wires that i need rather than making one bespoke front loom (as this would mean removing the front loom, splicing and removing wires and then trying to refit it).

I'm also trying to get hold of some BA, 626 and MX5 parts so will be contacting breakers on here and ebay to try and get my project moving forward again.....

we want updates

Well major mistake on my part meant that i didnt need most of the parts i was trying to get my grubby paws on - so i now have a few parts to offload in the future may come in useful to some members if they start certain projects (lee and nathan or andym for example)

I needed another instrument loom (sadly the base loom i was using didnt have all the wiring i needed on it) so i've managed to purchase another loom, should have that by the end of the week with a few other pieces i've been after for for a while.

Hope to have some real progress in the next couple of weeks - fingers crossed so will have some nice new photos to add as well

Still got to decide on a clutch - any suggestions??
I was thinking This one for now shaggy ran a standard clutch on his beast

Get a better clutch now, so you won't have to change it soon.
