Well the test piece I tried on a bonnet I applied it dry mate, as its not hard to get air bubbles out, if you apply it dry and use heat it becomes extremely pliable, i've also got a bottle of 3m water based primer to aid it sticking.

due to working in the motor sport industry for a little while now... I can clearly say that carbon fiber wrap looks cool on the back of your phone or laptop or interior parts but doesn't look anywhere real enough to be on body panels without people going out their way to point out "nice wrapped roof there mate, mines real but gel-coated" blahblahblah, it's just one of those mods that have been given max-power status i guess :/ which sucks because it can look pretty cool, then again so can the plain stuff...
