How long did it take you and how many coats of everything did you find you needed for the bonnet?

It is a professional job, for which I can't take the credit

I have a local bodyshop, who understand my need for perfection, and do their absolute best to provide the service I require

I got them to paint the rear arches last year, and they called me to say the colour was a little off. They took it back, and tried again. Then they got a technician from PPG (the paint manufacturer) down to investigate, and try to match it better. They tried water and cellulose based paints, and eventually got it pretty much spot on, and blended the paintwork all the way into the doors, to lose any shade change. During this time, I had the offer of a free courtesy car, but hey, we have enough cars, and they did not charge me a penny extra than the original quote.

Of course, when it came to needing my bonnet done, I went straight there, and they quoted, and said no matter how much they have to paint to get it right, they would keep at it, but their experience of the car and the colour meant it should be ok. They had the car for 2 days, and have done, as you can see, an excellent job.

If anyone wants any work done, I would highly recommend them, in fact, I wouldn't use anyone else

Fitted a TWM short shifter - really nice piece of kit, and comes with all the bolts, and spacers to drop the heatshield too

Also fitted a nice new leather boot to go with it, really pleased with how it looks, and especially how it feels

Made a stainless steel bonnet stay, for shows and stuff, secured to the catches by a good old bungee inside the tube

Looks very nice, is it just a bit of stainless tube ?

I have one of these for the van, See my van thread in ex-f'in owners. its lush

not just any old stainless tube, but a carefully selected measured piece of stainless tube - oh, and don't forget the bungee cord, selected for size and tension

Went back to car services today, and they mopped the bonnet again - and I have to say this time it's perfect

I also decided that while the bonnet stay thingy will work well at showing the engine a bit at shows, the air diversion panel looked a bit bland...so I applied some decals, of some of the stuff that has helped to make my car what it is
