Well, I'm back!
The Lantis ain't though - really a shame, it's hibernating in the garage this year now. I also sold the brake and engine upgrades and will sell the MOMO wheels and maybe the leather interiour as well.
That said, haven't given up on it at all, just can't afford to have 3 cars registered at the same time and while i drive the Roadster this summer, my gf will drive the 323F BG that still runs like a charm :)
As soon as things work out (especially job-wise), the Lantis will be back since i really miss it badly. Will be a bit softer though, maybe with more streetable dampers and stay a 1.5 (since petrol prices are climbing without stopping and i've now got the MX5 for fun). So it'll be back to the roots and i'll just drive it as my daily just like 10 years ago :)
In the meantime, i got a set of these:
Image
Will fit some 195/50 16 tires (better for every day use) as soon as possible.
That's it for now, we'll see how it goes...
By the way, if anyone's interested, i started a blog:
http://driving-culture.blogspot.com/

Greetings to all who remember me :)

Hi Mazda friends,
january '17 has passed and this means, my lantis has been with me for 16 years now!

At the moment the car is hibernating and awaiting spring. It now has been done about 220k kms and still makes me happy every time i drive it :)

However, time has taken its toll and i have to invest some work this year to keep the car in good condition. Of course, this will also mean: upgrade time :)
To celebrate the anniversary, i bought a very JDM present, as can be seen below:
Image

I'm looking forward to this summer 8)
Cheers,
Chris

Hi HMT, i have a question about the sideskirts you have on the BA.How/Do they get along with the standart jack?Or you have other one?
I really like how your car looks.Clean curves, simple and yet sporty look.(trying to do mine that way but still a no go)
Let me know about the skirts, because i'm planning to mount them soon. Thanks!
Continue with keeping all your Mazdas in good shape!

They allow access with the OEM jack, no problem. They were sold through Mazda dealers in the 90s so it would be strange if there were problems...

Ok, since i really was not too happy with my old Emphaser EA4150 amp, I got a new one:
Audio System X-Ion 160.4
Image
It's obviously quite large but still fits the spare wheel compartment. Here it is next to the old Emphaser:

Installed it at the weekend and i'm pleased with the results. This amp now really has control over the speakers :)

Furthermore, the car received fresh oil and ignition wearables. Even found a set of OEM Mazda / NGK Platinum spark plugs in my parts storage :)

All of this was topped up with a tank of Aral Ultimate fuel to clean the injectors and just because spring is almost here. 8)

Nice! Still on top of all the maintenance!

I'm finally able to get the F through the yearly inspection and first thing to be upgraded after that is the sounds system!

Ok, to recap the current status:
The car is off the road since November 2017 and currently hibernating in the garage. I got a replacement for daily duty in form of a 323F BJ Sportive, so there will be no more winters for the Lantis. That said, since I have it, I only drove it in winter in '01-'05 and '13-'16, so it's still one of the best preserved BA in my country :)

This was the last wash in November:
Image

And it's current hideout
Image

At the moment, I have not decided what to do with the car.
Fact is, i want some K-series V6 in my life. However, I've put quite a bit of effort into the BP by now and I am happy with the engine in general. Also, i still have heaps of parts for it and I like the spare part situation for the BP a lot better than for the V6.
So I might end up getting another car with a V6 instead (although this would raise the car count even more).
Alternatively, i could get a donor car (or two actually) for the V6 swap and just leave it until i feel ready to proceed (although this would mean high upkeep in terms of garage fees).
I will have to figure this out. Until then, I will slowly work on getting it back in top shape whenever there is time.

Gives it quite a different look from all the other rims you had even though all of them were 5 spokes. I think I just got myself a new wallpaper on my laptop. :)

In the meantime, this happend:

Image

https://driving-culture.blogspot.com/20 ... tatus.html

Have been experiencing some issues with the engine. Feels like it's not getting enough fuel now so I ordered a set of NB2 injectors and will swap them over. Also will change the distributor due to misfiring issues.

I like the colour of the headcover, but in my opinion it doesn't suit the car.I see you managed to mount both water hoses, are they stiffer than stock ones?
Try to zap yourself with a spark from the dizzy.I found out that if the spark hurts it's strong enough.
My F wasn't that strong(lately) and i could stand to multple hits without feeling it too strong.
Now if i put my finger there i still feel it 5 mins later!

Hahahaha, thanks for the tip. I think I'd rather just swap the dizzy and go for a test drive :D I have collected several of the f*** over the last 15 years, one of then should have some life left within. I have exchanged 3 (i think) over tha last 5 years, so the end is near for using used parts.
I discovered that the probestore seems to sell the coil modules individually.
It's either that, buying a new OEM one, converting to Megasquirt and COPs or converting to external coil, maybe using BG GT parts.

As for the color: I agree that it is very colorful under the hood now but i've had black valve covers in there since ... well for a very long time so I wanted a change. I'm not done yet and the whole thing will be more JDM style colored once it's done :)
The hoses are not particularly stiff. But surely more so than old OEM ones. I've used a Protege5 OBX upper hose as lower hose since the provided one would not clear the air con compressor. If you have no A/C you should be fine. Still pretty lame from Samco...

Fitted some new injectors to address the acceleration flat spots.

Also found out that a new OEM dizzy is ~850€ so that might not be the preferred option... :D
