Hi

I have a Mazda 323F from 2001 and I noticed that at higher speeds, especially during overtakes, the car has moments of pulling back. It happens mostly at over 65 mph, but sometimes (very rarely) at 50-55 mph too.
The mechanics have no idea what the issue is and, what's worse is they can't even reproduce it. It only happens on the road and not all the time. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong, or what should I check?

I am for HT leads too..
They tend to fail at higher load..
The spark search the least resistance..
Are the spark plugs ok( new or on low mileage)?
If they are old you should change them.

What engine have you got? How many miles? All service items in good nick?
I once had a half eaten butterfly valve sitting in my inlet ports that would do a sort of shudder...!

It's the 1.6 BJ engine.
I don't think it's the spark plugs, because it happens only when the gas pedal is pressed, and apparently only after the first 10 miles or so, so basically when the engine is warm.
One of the mechanics I've seen suggest we should check the fuel pump. But if the fuel pump is the issue shouldn't this happen at any point, not just after it warms up?

The car has around 80K miles and everything else is working fine except this issue, and a small power steering fluid leak.
