Looking good mate! :)

Also the bottom of your car still looks very neat.

With the new engine you're good for another 15 years :)

Have you need to change the wiring loom to make the engine swap?

by the way... nice pic! :D

Thanks,
sure, you need the loom & ecu corresponding to the engine.
In my case, i had to modify the loom as well since the donor car had an immobilizer and mine doesnt. So i needed a different ECU (BPM8) and hat to swap some wires to make it work...

Hellracer and Barreljan did this a couple of times in different BA's, you should talk to them.

How does the Lantis hold up with the new 1.8 in it? :) Are you using it as a daily now?

It's doing very well and it's a lot of fun :)

I'm actually very happy with the swap. It's my "daily" in the sense that i dont have another car for daily duty.
However, during winter i'm trying to avoid driving it - as a matter of fact i havent driven it this year ^^
My way to work is 30min by foot and i'm willing to walk to save my precious :)

Don't worry guys, I have the loom and ECU all ready and waiting :D

The GT engine is already in a BA, my spare which was donated to me by M1tch a few years back, its only got 27,000 miles on it, unfortunatly its in a Post ford BA si I can't use the loom and ECU from that, but, Matt had a Pre Ford loom and ECU so it should be plug and play when the time comes :thumbleft:

Chris, you gonna do a guide chap? :D

27000 miles is quite cool actually. I'd like one of those as well 8)
I just wanted to know whether you plan on using a BG od BG ECU and harness - seems that you go for BA, which i find a good choice :)
I dont intend to write up a guide, however if you like, feel free to contact me with any questions when the time comes...

Cheers Chris, you know I will :thumbright:

I would have gone with the BG ECU because of the 145hp as standard in the pre CAT BG :D

But.....!!!!!!!!

Using the BG loom means LOTS of cutting wires and re attaching wires, er, nah, I saw the mess that was Shaggy's loom when he did his GTX conversion and I know how long it took to do it properly when 323f ROCK didtheir GTR conversion!!! ;)

My plan is to unlock more power by fitting a piggy back ECU with a view to eventually fitting a supercharger :D

See, I'd avoid the BG ECU also due to the older distributor and air meter systems.
That said, i'd like to try a JDM ECU in the future although it might be a bit difficult to realize.
Depending on the mechanical reliability of my engine i might also consider a BPT swap in the future if that could be realized with a piggyback since i really dont want a MS in my daily...

You know me chap, reliability over full on power/performance every time, especially when i'm using the car every day to commute 80 miles to work and back ;)

We so have to hook up some time mate, both bought our cars in 2001, both Sparkle Green 1.5s, be a craking meet and photo shoot :D

That is true indeed :D
I would love such a meeting. Planning any trips to the Nordschleife? ;)
Regarding BPT and reliability, i meant, if my BP should start consuming more oil (it's not brilliant at the moment), i might consider getting another one. A BPT would actually be a nice option. Small turbo, low output, just a bit of boost to make the most of the tall gearing on the Autobahns :D

I want to see that with my own eyes, two 323F on the Nordschleife :D
So, a friend of mine will live in Dusseldorf in May, maybe I'll going to see him there and why not to see some members of the MazdaCommunity of Germany (and maybe both of you at the Nordschleife ? 8) )

Other thing, a BPT would be a very nice option for the 323F I think. It's a little bit powerful than a V6 but lighter than the V6, and light is right

That would indeed be awesome - although i'd imagine it might be a bit pricey to get there for most of the ppl here...
And BP-T would really be even more awesomer :D

Very nice, looks a lot different from the other set. Not sure which I like most, both look good really.

Also new exhaust?

That's interesting because I really want to go to Nordschleife one day! Is one of my bigger dreams :)
I was never go there, but, I'm born on Germany... in Neuss, Düsseldorf and come to Portugal in 1994 ;)

Someday, I want to go live to Germany again...

So... if somebody here want planning some trip to Nordschleife with 323F, tell me because I really want go with :D

by the way... nice look with the Superleggera's :)

Thanks guys!
Arne, exhaust is the same - or is it? I actually swapped it to the same type Remus but with the bigger 1.8 flange and full stainless now, just because i got it cheaply and it was less hassle that way.
Thinking of building a sport pre-silencer with a MX5 resonator...

Maybe it's time for an international Lantis meet soon :D
