Heya peeps
Someone please make something clear to me.
I am fed up with the way my car handles a bump in the road...you can feel EVERYTHING on the road.
I need to know, what changes do i have to make to have a smooth ride.
Yes, the car does have 40mm lowering kit, with 17inch rims...but damn, it feels as if i am riding on wheels without tyres

It'll probably be the low profile tyres, more than the springs
what pressure do you have in them? _________________

What tyres are you running? Assuming it's 205/40's, 205/45's (although not looking as good and increasing your height slightly) will give you a comfier ride
Google says -
220kPa = 32psi
200kPa = 30psi
Sounds about right to me I run 30-32 all round. _________________ Scott

Mine and your comfortable are probably two different things.. I'm comfortable when I'm flat out around a left hand bend
It isn't too bad to be honest but I do have hard coilovers (even on their softest setting). _________________ Scott

Its the alloys mate, 16's make the car ride firmer but not too harsh (I think some people say its a bit unconfey)
15's are the wey to go if you want a alloys with a smoother ride. _________________

| I just changed from 16s to 15s and there is a real difference in the ride. Now I don't notice every little bump in the road, every stone and chipping and painted tarmac. But you do lose a little tightness when taking corners. |

you need to get uprated shock absorbers if you want a smoother ride _________________ Check out Protege FAQ for all your 323 information and iMazda to reach out internationally |

they will still transmit groundborne vibrations
tonx13 do you find the car tramlines quite a lot? taking 1psi out can make all the difference _________________

I run 17's with 215/40/17 on standard springs & KYB gas struts, ride is noisy and choppy but it comes into its own when pushed into corners. Next tyres I will up profile to 45 hoping to keep to 215 width. The age of your tyres plays a part in the road noise, new tyres I have found tend to run a lot quieter. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40GL0nxh6ag |
