Rear Reflector Panel Removal & Colour Coding

Why?

Some people don't like the looks of the rear end of the BA due to the red plastic 'reflective' strip along the boot lid. This is how you can rectify this if you're one of these people.
Time: 2 hours
Cost: £15 (aprox)
Difficulty: Easy Peasy

Equipment Required:

Filler
Plastic Primer,
Spray Paint (colour you want the plastic strip)
Lacquer
Fine grade wet and dry paper (800 grit will do)
Tools

Instructions

1 ­ Remove the Mazda badge off the rear of your car. Notice there is a recess for the badge of about 2mm.

2 ­ Fill the recess and sand back using plenty of water.



Bootlid:



3 ­ Remove the two black nuts (black arrows) and remove the two brass nuts from behind the blanking plate next to the light clusters. (red arrows) Repeat with the other side.

4 ­ Now remove the pull handle, and the black trim from inside the boot. The positions of the clips are marked below so you know where to pull (mind it doesn't smack you in the head when it does come off).



5 ­ Remove the three brass screws from inside the boot lid. Then withdraw the big gay plastic thing from the car.



6 ­ Turn the plastic unit over and remove the two screws from each of the lights and remove the lights



7 ­ Prime and Spray the plastic strip.



8 ­ Once this dry, do steps 6 to 1 .....
